Not to be mistaken with the box full of sand in the backyard where children play and cats poop, my sandbox is a local version of my blogsite hosted on my laptop. The purpose of this sandbox is to provide an environment in which I can test new functions, features and releases of Wordpress prior to installing them on my actual domain.

bitmap-in-wpheart.jpgThis is supposed to protect from such things as crashing the online site by installing unstable or untested software or themes etc.

Well, stupid me! I took for granted that sometimes something just don’t play well together. In this case the new release of Wordpress (2.2 RC2) decided it wouldn’t play well with the theme I was using. It seems the way BloggingPro’s dynamic sidebars work is not compatible with the new integrated widgetizing in Wordpress 2.2 RC2. The net result was none of my plugin widgets would work and things just went bonkers.

Leave it to Tap to point out that I should have used my sandbox to test things before simply uploading the wordpress upgrade and proceeding to type in upgrade.php. Talk about feeling like a chastised child  “ummm Sorry dad!” One day I will learn!

Oh well, if necessity is the mother of invention, then stupidity must be its father.

Once again I have spent about 12 hours selecting, installing and editing the crap out of a theme. What you see before you is a bastardized version of the Anaconda Theme. Though I am not too impressed with the RED headings and such, I do like the theme. I will be editing even more of it as time goes by.

Since I can’t stop with just editing the theme, there are some other changes to the site. Most of them aren’t noticeable unless you are Tap or me. The guestbook is gone. No one used it anyway.

So, if you find anything not working, let me know using the contact form. I am going to play in my sandbox now. No, I am not telling you which one!
