Things are once again working! Woot!

Arriving home from work Saturday morning it was apparent that should I sleep in my own bed I would sleep all day and get absolutely nothing accomplished. So it was decided between the minpin and me that I would sleep on the sofa for a couple of hours. Eventually all the hussle and bustle in the house would wake me up. I am a very light sleeper, so any noise wakes me.

Not today. I slept through human sounds, dog sounds, car sounds and all other sounds. I awoke at 9:30 p.m. to an empty house and an empty stomach.

Shitty… I was supposed to go shopping for new running shoes and sweats. DAMN! Instead I sat down at the computer to figure out what went wrong with my blog theme when I upgraded to Wordpress 2.2. Since I have been bitching all over the place the 2.2 broke BloggingPro, I thought maybe I could find a fix. I didn’t!

Instead of messing with BloggingPro, at first, I moved the whole thing to my computer. I then uploaded a fresh copy of BloggingPro to my server. That’s weird, the dynamic sidebars worked. Why did they crash on my edited copy? It must be something I did. Oh well, I will travel around and apologize to anyone I bitched to previously.

Ideas came to mind so it was time to fire up the SANDBOX. For some reason, as soon as I upgraded the sandbox to Wordpress 2.2 none of my plugins would work. So now the sandbox is broken. Fortunately I know what the problem is. Unfortunately I have no intention of fixing it this weekend.

In the meantime, how do I fix it here? I already switched to Anaconda but it seems people are having a problem with the comment boxes when it is in fluid width mode. I think Warmie just has a screwed up computer because it is only SHE who ever has problems with my layouts. There are things I like in Anaonda, and there are things I don’t. I love the BloggingPro theme and have edited to meet my needs. So what to do?

Problem solved! It is prime time I learned about editing the sidebar and not relying on widgets to get things done over there. So that is precisely what I did. I sat or 8 hours and figured it all out. Not only are the widgets gone, the sidebar has been edited to add in one of the features I liked about Anaconda…. The sidebar graphics.

While the basic theme is BloggingPro, it is no longer so pure. The following changes have made it into Sir’s Place!:

• Blockquotes re-coded to allow for magazine-style cutouts(preciously)
• Sidebar colours edited and Anaconda-style graphics added
• Sidebars no longer widgetized and funtions.php has been retired
• styles.css classes all changed to classes that mean something to me (makes coding easier)
• header.php edited to add random header images (previously)

Now Warmie shouldn’t have any problems using the comments editor when leaving her off-topic messages
