When we do it, we do it good!

“The driver said his load shifted as he went around the corner and that caused his load to tip.”

We can’t seem to have little fender benders, can we? We don’t back a converter under the trailer, miss the pin and wipe out the 70.00 mud flap. No, not us. We have the trailer too low, back the converter up without paying attention, don’t notice the converter folding up until the 3000.00 reefer unit is damaged.

We don’t miss the turn and dent our bumper on a power pole. Nope, we miss the corner altogether and send 35,000 pounds of milk and produce all over the ditch…. (Photo on full article)

edmontonsun.com - Edmonton News - Safeway truck spills

A messy spill on Anthony Henday Drive yesterday could mean a nutritious boost for those who rely on the Edmonton Food Bank.

Fortunately, this time no one was seriously hurt. The driver wasn’t wearing a seat belt and played bounce off everything in the cab and was rewarded with a mild concussion. I am not a big seat belt freak, but when you bounce around the cab in anPoor Dave!! accident don’t bitch to me if you weren’t wearing it. I promise I won’t bitch when it happens to me. Hmmmm…. Did I just admit something I shouldn’t have?

And my big thing here is, don’t bullshit about what happened. I know roughly what happened in this accident and it had nothing to do with the load shifting. The load shifted only after the trailer started tipping. It was not the catalyst. But we will let the experts figure that out on their own.

Amazingly enough the milk containers didn’t blow. They remailed intact. Ever dropped a 4 litre plastic jug of milk? It usually results in a mess. I guess there will be no crying over spilt milk here, though the cost to us will be more than most of us make in 8 - 10 years of working. Sadly, in my opinion it was 100% avoidable.
