…is that Happy Beer Day?

It appears, according to a quasi-scientific poll whose results are posted in todays Edmonton Sun that pretty close to ALL Canadians love beer. Some would like to have a beer with Wayne Gretzky (26%). Some would lke to sip the suds with David Suzuki (25.9% but why). About a comparable number of Canucks would be more likely to sip suds with comedian Mike Myers (23%)

Interestingly enough, 34% of Canadians think that poutine is the best Canadian dish with beer. I agree. Well not really, I don’t like fries, but if they come with beer I might order them just to be part of the crowd. And finally, a shocking 40% of Atlantic Canadians would prefer to have beer than have sex. I guess that’s not so shocking. I have an easier time getting beer.

Canada’s favourite sport, hockey while exciting is still only a winter/spring game. Football CFL style is a summer only game (why is that anyway?). The one thing you can count on all year ’round is BEER. Beer goes with hockey. Beer goes with Football, baseball, golf. You name it, beer goes with it.

What kind of magic elixir is this that can tempt Canadians away from sex?

As the Edmonton Sun points out, Beer is simply Canada in a bottle. For years our military has been one of the foremost training tools of the British Forces and the American military. We may not be large, but we are strong. In that light, take our beer for example. It isn’t light on taste. It isn’t light at all. What we call “LIGHT” beer puts America’s strongest beers to shame.

We may not agree on politics. We may argue over sports. We may even disagree about business. One thing we can surely agree on is while we argue, debate and disagree we can always do it quite well over a BEER!!

To keep this short and sweet…. I am going to spend Canada Day reflecting on what it means to me to be a Canadian. While I reflect I am going to clean the mess in my computer corner, get ready to shampoo the rugs tomorrow, and drink copious amounts of BEER!!
