While trucking is by far my first love, there are a couple of things I enjoy almost as much. One of these is turning excellent coffee beans into cups of AMAZING coffee. Coffee is the topic of my newest blog, which should open in the next month or so. Keep checking My Edmonton Coffee Guide until you find the grand opening date. I am designing my own Wordpress Theme for the new website, so it will take some time.
Back to the main point of this entry. The second thing I enjoy almost as much as creating great coffee and trucking is COOKING. This is evidenced by the amount of money and time I spend on and in my kitchen. But don’t get the wrong impression. Cooking doesn’t always have to be expensive or elaborate to be good. Okay, I have been known to import alligator meat at about $22 a pound just to make one meal of gumbo or jambalaya. It isn’t unheard of for a meal to consist of beef sausages, made fresh at a cost of $16 a pound. This of course, isn’t the norm in my kitchen.
While the bottom line of spending time in the kitchen is enjoying good food and great coffee, it doesn’t always mean being in the kitchen a long time, or spending a lot of money.
For the university students, single parents, and double income families, I am going to have a “John Made Famous” recipe on this site weekly, or more often. Once in a while I may slap down an extravagant recipe that will cost more than most of us make in a day to create, but for the most part, I am going to stick to recipes that can be thrown together for less than $15 dollars, and created in less than 20 minutes (kitchen time).
Some of these are going to be so tasty, you will wonder how it is possible, with little time and very little cost, to create something that tastes like “sex on a fork.”
The first of these simple recipes will appear here in the next few days.
Until then…. Happy blogging!
