Oh Damn - A Request to Write!

Dammit Warmie! You come here and lay a guilt trip on me, and then splitsville. Alrighty then. I am going to write.
Warmie wants to hear about my adventures on the highway. I think she is hoping for something like the antics I was involved in a few years back when running […]

The ultimate High Tech Redneck

Current Mood: EsctaticYesterday I ventured into the Telus store. Not long thereafter I ventured back out with a brand new Blackberry Curve 8330. Yeah, nothing particularly special about that. I am always buying new toys.
What’s cool about this one is it has a camera, connects and directly uplpoads to Facebook all of my photos. […]

When is enough enough?

It has become known that the driver involved in the crash in the previous story had Type I Diabetes, had suffered many hypoglycemic attacks, and was well aware of his condition. His family and friends are blaming the accident on one of these attacks.

What was this guy thinking?

This accident happened at 178th St. and Yellowhead Trail this afternoon. I have never seen anything like this outside of a movie theatre.
He drove over 15 km, eastbound in the westbound lane on highway 16. Was he drunk? Stoned? Suicidal? He was killed, so I guess we will never know.

Safeway truck spills

When we do it, we do it good!
“The driver said his load shifted as he went around the corner and that caused his load to tip.”
We can’t seem to have little fender benders, can we? We don’t back a converter under the trailer, miss the pin and wipe out the 70.00 mud flap. […]

Slip-Sliding Away

What is going on with the weather in Alberta? This is getting just a little ridiculous, to say the least. Did the weatherman forget about APRIL SHOWERS, spring flowers and all that mush? April snowstorms are for the freaking birds. This, especially after having a full week of > +10° weather!
….. […]

New Shifts - Shoot Me Please

So one of our drivers had a “maybe” [tag]heart attack[/tag]. What is a “maybe” heart attack anyway? Is that what it is when I get a tight chest and my left shoulder tightens up? If so I should see a “maybe” doctor. Screw it.
Due to this “maybe” heart attack I am […]

Why Trucking?

Several times over the past couple of decades I have been offered opportunities in transportation management. I accepted a few of them. Unfortunately, they never last for long. The issue isn’t whether or not I am a good operations manager, safety manager, or driver supervisor. Not at all. The problem […]
